Na verdade essa treta é mais com a cultura pop em geral do que com a Aguilera. Eminem se referiu à Christina na música “The Real Slim Shady”, zoando ela num contexto de sexo explícito. Tudo começou quando a Aguilera tava num programa da MTV (a estréia do seu clipe “What A Girl Wants”). Ela pediu pra ver o clipe “My Name Is”, do Eminem e, enquanto passava o vídeo ela fez alguns comentários sobre o rapper. Ela falou, em rede nacional, que havia rumores de que o Eminem tinha se casado com a Kim, mas na real era verdade. No entanto, essa era uma informação, pelo menos até aquele dia, pessoal. Ela continuou e começou a falar de violência doméstica, dizendo para as garotas que evitem esse tipo de relacionamento e também deu o exemplo da música “’97 Bonnie & Clyde”, música do Eminem onde ele supostamente mata sua mulher. Depois disso Eminem se irritou e zoou muito, mas muito mesmo a Christina no seu single “The Real Slim Shady”, onde ele zoa também a Britney, as boy bands e todos esses tipos de artistas. Após o lançamento da música, a Aguilera respondeu com a música: “Will The Real Slim Shady Please Shut Up?” (O verdadeiro Slim Shady vai se calar?). A partir daí, ela é vítima constante das letras do Slim e de suas brincadeiras no palco.
