O conflito do Eminem com o Ja Rule começou depois que o 50 Cent assinou contrato com a Shady Records e Aftermath. Ja Rule afirmou que ele teve um problema com Eminem e Dr. Dre por terem assinado alguém com quem ele tinha treta. No dia 19 de novembro, Ja Rule e Irv Gotti foram convidados especiais no programa “Star & Bucwild” da rádio de New York City Hot 97. Irv Gotti tinha alguns “documentos jurídicos” indicando a ordem de proteção que o 50 Cent tinha. Ja Rule ameaçou o 50 Cent dizendo que se ele lançasse qualquer música zuando ele, ele iria tomar certas medidas em relação aos seus dois produtores. No entanto, Dr. Dre foi quem produziu a faixa pesada do 50 Cent “Back Down”, em 2003, do álbum “Get Rich Or Die Tryin'”, que além de falar mal de todo mundo do Murder Inc., 50 Cent foi extremamente desrespeitoso com a mãe do Ja Rule, esposa e filhos. Na música o 50 rima: “Sua mãe, seu pai, aquela puta que você tá atrás, suas criancinhas nojentas, eu apago eles”.

Busta Rhymes decidiu juntar-se ao conflito, quando ele participou na faixa “Hail Mary 2003”, com Eminem e 50 Cent.

A briga se intensificou quando Ja Rule lançou um diss (música zuando alguém) chamado “Loose Change”, na qual ele ataca 50 Cent e Eminem chamando-o de “Feminem” e Dr. Dre de “bisexual” e afirmou que o Suge Knight sabia que o Dre “levava travestis para casa”. A música tem letras insultando a mãe do Eminem, Debbie, sua ex esposa Kim e também fez referências à sua filha Hailie, que na época tinha 8 anos de idade. “Em você alega que sua mãe é uma drogada e Kim uma vagabunda nata, então o que a Hailie vai ser quando crescer?”. Isso irritou muito o Eminem, fazendo com que ele chamasse imediatamente o seu grupo de rap D12, e também Obie Trice. Eles responderam juntos na faixa intitulada “Doe Rae Me” (vulgo “Hailie’s Revenge”). Desde então essa briga não continuou.
