Hoje, o melhor rapper de todos os tempos, Eminem, faz 44 anos de idade. Marshall Mathers nasceu no dia 17 de outubro de 1972 em St. Joseph, Missouri. Ele é o filho único do Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. (nascido dia 30 de junho de 1951), mais conhecido como Bruce e da Deborah “Debbie” Rae Nelson (nascida dia 6 de janeiro de 1955). Ele é descendente de Inglês, Alemão, Escocês e Suiço.
Debbie tinha 14 anos quando ela conheceu o Bruce de 18 anos. Aos 17, ela quase morreu durante seu parto que teve duração de 73 horas. Os país do Eminem faziam parte de uma banda chamada Daddy Warbucks, e cantavam na rede de hotéis do Ramada Inn. Bruce abandonou a família e se mudou à California, onde teve mais dois filhos, Michael e Sarah. Debbie também teve outro filho, Nathan Kane Samara, nascido no dia 3 de fevereiro de 1986.
Durante a sua infância, Eminem e Debbie se mudavam constantemente entre Missouri e Michigan, raramente ficando em uma casa por mais de um ano ou dois e viviam com familiares. Em Missouri, eles viveram em vários lugares, incluindo St. Joseph, Savannah e Kansas City.
