“The Interview” é um filme de comédia e sátira política de 2014 dirigido por Seth Rogen e Evan Goldberg. Esse o seu segundo trabalho como diretor do Seth, após “This Is The End” de 2013. O roteiro é do Dan Sterling, baseado em uma história de co-autoria com Rogen e Goldberg. O filme é estrelado por Seth Rogen e James Franco que fazem o papel de jornalistas que marcam uma entrevista com o líder norte-coreano Kim Jong-un (Randall Park), e são recrutados pela CIA para assassiná-lo.

Eminem tirou sarro de si mesmo em uma aparição cômica no filme, onde ele admite ser gay. Embora a confissão seja falsa, os fãs surtaram quando souberam da declaração do Eminem durante a entrevista.

Uma bela maneira de iniciar o filme – Eminem, é um convidado especial no programa do James Franco em “The Interview,” e admite tranquilamente ser gay. O rapper tem sofrido bastante ataques por suas letras vulgares contra os gays, então é um choque quando ele confessa que ele mesmo é homossexual. É óbvio que ele estava apenas lendo um script, mas as pessoas ficaram apavoradas com a confissão.

Após a confissão do Eminem ele diz “Ou, você sabe, quando eu digo coisas sobre os gays e as pessoas acham que eu sou homofóbico, sabe, é porque eu sou gay.”

Seth Rogen, que é um dos atores principais do filme, fica apavorado e grita “Eminem acabou de dizer que ele é gay. Quatro vezes!” enquanto os telefones começam a tocar sem parar. “Esse é o melhor momento na história de gays!”

“A aparição do Eminem foi idéia do diretor Evan Goldberg. E com a ajuda do Seth Rogen, eles bolaram tudo e tiveram a aprovação do Eminem. Todos acharam brilhante e hilário. Evan foi a pessoa quem abriu as portas para a discussão, e logo após a idéia vingou,” contou uma fonte ao HollywoodLife.com.

Rogen e Goldberg desenvolveram a idéia do filme no final da década de 2000, com Kim Jong-il como o alvo principal. Em 2011, após a morte de Jong-il, Jong-un substituiu-o como o líder norte-coreano. Rogen e Goldberg reformularam o roteiro com foco no personagem de Jong-un. O anúncio para o filme foi feito em março de 2013, juntamente com o início da pré-produção. A fotografia principal foi em Vancouver de outubro a dezembro de 2013.

Em junho de 2014, o governo norte-coreano ameaçou a tomar medidas contra os Estados Unidos se a Columbia Pictures lançasse o filme. A Columbia atrasou o lançamento de outubro a dezembro, e supostamente re-editou o filme para torná-lo mais aceitável na Coreia do Norte. Em novembro, os sistemas de informática da empresa-mãe Sony Pictures Entertainment foram hackeados pelo “Guardians Of Peace,” um grupo que o FBI diz ter laços com a Coreia do Norte. O grupo também ameaçou ataques terroristas contra cinemas que exibissem o filme. As principais cadeias de cinema optaram por não lançar o filme, levando a Sony a lançá-lo para locação online e compra no dia 24 de dezembro de 2014, seguido por um lançamento limitado em alguns cinemas no dia seguinte.

“The Interview” arrecadou US$40 milhões em locações digitais, tornando-o o lançamento digital de maior sucesso da Sony, e também ganhou um adicional de US$11,2 milhões no mundo inteiro no nos cinemas. O filme recebeu críticas mistas por seu humor e assunto, embora críticos elogiaram as atuações de Rogen, Franco, Park e Diana Bang.

O filme também conta com participações especiais de Eminem, Rob Lowe, Bill Maher, Seth Meyers, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ben Schwartz, Brian Williams, e Scott Pelley. Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Zac Efron, e Guy Fieri aparecem no título gráfico do Skylark Tonight.
